Tbilisi court arrests four men accused of involvement in IS

The Tbilisi City Court has ruled to put in custody the four persons accused of involvement in the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), said the press service of the court.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 15, the four men were detained in the Tbilisi Airport. According to the police, they were going to fly to Turkey, and from there – to Syria.

"When choosing a freedom restriction measure for them, the court took into account the fact that the defendants are accused of committing an especially grave crime," the Sputnik quotes the press service of the court.

Besides, the court has considered that "there is a danger of committing a new crime, to influence and press the witnesses, as well as a risk that the defendants Ayuf Borchashvili, Georgi Khutunishvili, Georgi Kuprava and David Pirisebiya may escape," the "Georgia Online" reports.

A preliminary court session is scheduled for August 5. The case is investigated under the articles of "recruitment of member of a terrorist organization" and "participation in a foreign terrorist organization and assisting it in its terrorist activities".
