Armenian advocates ask for psychiatric examination of Permyakov
As reported today by the advocate Lusine Sahakyan, her colleagues, who represent the interests of successors of the victims of Gyumri massacre – the Avetisyan family, demand a psychological and psychiatric examination of Valery Permyakov.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 12 the Russian Garrison Military Court convicted Permyakov, a soldier of the 102nd Russian military base in Gyumri, on charges of desertion, theft and illegal possession of firearms to 10 years in a high security colony. Regarding the case of the murder of the Avetisyan family, it is planned that it will be considered by the Armenian court.
On January 12, in Gyumri, six members of the Avetisyan family were assassinated. The only survivor of the attack – the six-month-old Sergey Avetisyan – was hospitalized in critical condition and on January 19, he died. A Russian regular soldier Valery Permyakov was arrested as a suspect of committing the massacre.
Lusine Sahakyan believes that the experts' opinion, announced at the trial, that Permyakov was found sane, may be not true. She said in explanation that "a person cannot sleep at his own trial and sit with his back on the audience during the whole session, never turning around."
Ms Sahakyan believes that if Permyakov is not aggressive, he should have had good reason for killing seven humans; and if this version is confirmed, the Armenian party should find out the motives.
At the same time, as she added, representatives of the victims' successors have no hope for a true conclusion of the Armenian party, the "NEWS.am" reports, noting that another advocate involved in the case, Ervand Varosyan, also found suspicious Valery Permyakov's inertness at the trial.
