Ruslan Kazanokov chairs Government of Karachay-Cherkessia

MPs of Karachay-Cherkessia have approved Ruslan Kazanokov for the post of the Prime Minister of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR). The decision was made unanimously at the 14th session of the National Assembly of Karachay-Cherkessia held on September 8.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 27, Rashid Temrezov, the head of Karachay-Cherkessia, signed a decree on the resignation of the republic's Government chaired by its Chairman Murat Kardanov. Ruslan Kazanokov, the head of the Federal Tax Service Department for Karachay-Cherkessia, was appointed the Acting Prime Minister. Experts associated the resignation of the Government with an attempt of the regional leader to consolidate the regional elites on the eve of the elections of 2016.

According to the Constitution of Karachay-Cherkessia, the new Prime Minister has 14 days to present to the leader of the KChR the structure and composition of the regional Government.

The 57-year-old Ruslan Kazanokov was born in the village of Kosh-Khabl of the Stavropol Territory. In 1999, he was elected an MP of the National Assembly of the KChR, where he worked until 2003. In 2003, he was appointed the Prime Minister of the KChR. On July 7, 2005, Ruslan Kazanokov was appointed the head of the Federal Tax Service Department for the KChR.
