Saakashvili's party wins elections for Adjarian parliament
According to official preliminary data, the party Saakashvili - Victorious Adjaria won 75% of the vote and the party Berdzenishvili - Republicans did about 9% of the vote in the elections for the Adjarian parliament that were held on June 20, reported Chairman of the Adjarian Supreme Election Commission Irakly Pagava. Altogether 125 thousand people took part in the parliamentary elections in Adjaria.
The one-chamber Adjarian parliament consists of 30 deputies. Deputies elected by party lists will have 18 mandates, and majority deputies will have 12 mandates. Thus 16 mandates will be given to representatives of Mikhail Saakashvili's party elected by party lists, and 2 mandates will be given to Republicans. Almost all majority deputies will represent the ruling party, Mr Pagava said.
