Musa Musaev elected Mayor of Makhachkala

Today, at the session of the Makhachkala City Council, deputies have elected Musa Musaev the City Mayor, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

In his speech delivered to the deputies, Anvar Khalilov, Chairman of the tender committee for the selection of candidates for the post of the City Mayor, has recommended Musa Musaev. Besides, Musa Musaev was supported by the Chairman of the Makhachkala branch of the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia) Party, the Chairman of the Assembly of Deputies of the Lenin District of Makhachkala, as well as members of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Musa Musaev, Acting Mayor of Makhachkala since this June, has become one of three winners of the competition for the selection of candidates for the post of the City Mayor. Together with Musa Musaev, the list of candidates announced today included Galina Arnautova, a former deputy of the People's Assembly of Dagestan, the Associate Professor of the Dagestani State Agricultural University, and Magomedgadji Abdullaev, Chief of the Department for Land Resources of the Makhachkala city administration.

The appointment of Musa Musaev to the post of the Makhachkala City Mayor was supported by all deputies who attended the session of the City Council. Earlier, Dagestani journalists have characterized Musa Musaev as a good clerk and called him a man from the circles of Abdusamad Gamidov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Dagestan.
