PFPA Deputy Chairman detained in Azerbaijan

Fuad Gakhramanly, the Deputy Chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), has been taken to the Investigating Department for Grave Crimes, said Ali Kerimli, the head of the PFPA.

According to Ali Kerimli, Gakhramanly was detained by policemen at home and taken to the Investigating Department on Grave Crimes of the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO).

Gakhramanly managed to call his colleagues and tell that a criminal case had been opened against him.

"So far, we've failed to find out what sort of criminal case was opened against him. Whatever charge has been put forward against Fuad Gakhramanly, we know for sure that it is fabricated. Fuad Gakhramanly was detained for his consistent and principled struggle for democratization of our country," Ali Kerimli told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Mr Gakhramanly was taken to the Nasimi District Court to elect a freedom restriction measure for him, said Gezyal Bairamly, the Deputy Chairman of the PFPA.

"It's unknown what specific offences have been incriminated to Gakhramanly. But we know that he was attracted in connection with the Nardaran events," said Bairamly.
