Tenants of ruined Volgograd house state authorities' deafness to their appeals

On January 17, tenants of the house in Volgograd, destroyed by an explosion, held a meeting, stating that the authorities would not respond to their appeals and requests.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 20, 2015, an explosion occurred in No. 47 in Kosmonavtov Street in Volgograd. As a result, 12 tenants were hospitalized; bodies of five casualties were found under ruins.

The meeting was attended by former residents of 74 apartments.

Larisa Borodaeva, who chaired the meeting, reported about the applications sent by tenants to various instances.

Applications were sent to the Public Prosecutor of the Volgograd Region with a request to look into the procedure of paying compensations to the citizens, who lost their housing as a result of the accident on December 20.

The tenants also sent their appeals to the Russian President, Prime Minister, Secretary of the Public Chamber of Russia and Ombudsperson in the Russian Federation with a request to provide housing as soon as possible. The applications were sent in December and January, but no answers, according to Borodaeva, have been received yet.

Besides, the meeting also discussed the need to hold a picket to voice out people’s concerns.

"The aim of the picket is to attract the attention of the officials, whose duty is to address our problems and respond to our questions," said Larisa Borodaeva.
