Shepherd killed in Karabakh conflict zone
A resident of the village of Vazgenashen, Martuni District of Nagorno-Karabakh, was fatally wounded by a sniper's shot from the Azerbaijani side, the Karabakh Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported.
According to the MoD, the 54-year-old Akop Ambartsumyan was killed on February 11 from a sniper's rifle. He was pasturing a flock of sheep near the territory of the community Vazgenashen, Andranik Babayan, the head of the community, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. The man worked as a shepherd, hired by a private individual.
According to Babayan, the Ambarysumyan family has two daughters; and he also cared about his old mother.
Today, the press service of the MoD of Nagorno-Karabakh's stated that for the past 24 hours the situation on the contact line with the Azerbaijani troops remained "particularly tense"; and over 4500 shots were recorded there. Azerbaijan has accused the Armenian party of firing 121 shots during this time.
