Trial on Akhmednabiyev's case postponed

The consideration of the advocate's complaint on Akhmednabi Akhmednabiyev's murder case, which had been scheduled for today at the Sovietsky Court of Makhachkala, has failed, because of the absence of the prosecutor.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that journalist Akhmednabi Akhmednabiyev was killed on July 9, 2013, in the outskirts of Makhachkala, becoming the 17th journalist killed in Dagestan over 20 years. The basic version of the crime was in Akhmednabiyev's professional activities. On July 30, 2014, a judgement was passed to suspend the inquiry into the case, but in September it was overturned by the prosecutor's office. Another judgement to suspend the inquiry was passed on November 27, 2015; this judgement is being contested by the advocate.

Besides, according to the judge, the prosecutor has failed to present the case files to the court.

On October 1, 2014, the "Caucasian Knot", jointly with the Russian Union of Journalists established an annual award in memory of and named after Akhmednabiyev to journalists writing about the Caucasus.
