Alaverdi
Settlement in Georgia, in the Alazansky valley, in 20 kms to northwest from the city of Telavi. In Alaverdi there is an outstanding monument of the Georgian medieval architecture, the cathedral of Tsmind Georgy (the beginning of XI century, partly reconstructed in XV and XVIII centuries). In the plan - the lengthened cross; in the middle od the cross - a dome on a high drum; the internal space of a temple -is the most grandiose one in Georgian architecture (height of a temple - 50 meters). In 1960th years paintings of XV-XVI and XVI-XVIII centuries were revealed. The architectural ensemble consists of enter medieval refectory, bell tower and fencing (XVII century), a summer palace and other objects.
