Police suspects Imam Magomedov of calling for terrorism

The Imam of the local mosque, detained in Khasavyurt, had urged parishioners to terrorist activities and posted on the Internet "materials intended to incite enmity," said a law enforcement source.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Magomednabi Magomedov, an Imam of the Salafi mosque "Vostochnaya" (Eastern), was detained in Khasavyurt on April 8. According to eyewitnesses, it happened, when he went to the ROVD (District Police Division) and demanded to release detained mosque-goers.

"The Imam is suspected of calling, on February 5, in the mosque of the settlement Vostochny of Khasavyurt, for terrorist activities and of publicly justifying terrorism. Moreover, he posted on the Internet some materials aimed at inciting enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity on the basis of religion and nationality," the "Interfax" quotes a law enforcement source.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 5 Magomednabi Magomedov declared inadmissibility of pressure on Salafis by law enforcers, and urged the members of the community to seek peaceful means to protect their rights.
