KBR resident convicted for involvement in IS

The court has sentenced a resident of the Urvan District to seven years in colony, finding him guilty of links with militants and illegal possession of ammunition and narcotic drugs.

According to the Russian FSB (Federal Security Bureau), the above man, born in 1994, in the period from October 2014 to April 2015 "provided help" to members of an illegal armed formation (IAF).

"During the detention, ammunition, explosives, and drugs were found on him," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told at the press service of the FSB Department for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR).

According to the above Department, the convict had links with the militants-members of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS) banned in Russia, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Earlier, on April 5, Kazbek Tatuev, the Deputy Interior Minister of the KBR, said that more than 130 KBR residents were at war for terrorists in Syria.
