Rights defenders report another beating of Ayub Tuntuev in colony

Employees of the human rights organization "Legal Initiative" have reported about another beating up of Ayub Tuntuev, convicted for a terror act in Chechnya, in the colony located in the city of Vladimir.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ayub Tuntuev was accused under the case of the terror act, committed in the summer of 2005 in the Chechen district centre of Znamenskoye. He was sentenced to 24 years in prison. In mid-May, the "Legal Initiative" filed a complaint to the ECtHR in defence of Ayub Tuntuev, who stated that had been forced to sign a confession under torture.

On May 17, 2016, at 10 in the morning, the cell-type room, where Ayub Tuntuev was kept, was visited by two men, who put a bond over his eyes, says the statement posted on the website of the "Legal Initiative".

"One of them hit my kidneys for 4-5 times; then one of them said: 'Today, they'll come to you; and you'll sign whatever they give you to sign.' They also promised that if I refused to sign the papers, I'd be raped, and then poisoned by means of food. The, they punched on the back of my head and kicked twice my chest with a knee. I agreed to sign all the papers," Ayub Tuntuev told his advocates.

According to rights defenders, in total, the applicant signed more than 50 sheets of procedural documents, including the refusal from the advocate Tagir Shamsudinov.
