Arrest of Imam Magomedov extended until July 28
In Makhachkala, the court has extended the arrest of Magomednabi Magomedov, the Imam of the Salafi mosque in Khasavyurt, who is accused of inciting terrorism.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Imam of the "Eastern" mosque was detained on April 8. According to investigators, Magomednabi Magomedov called on believers for terrorist activity and published on the Internet "the materials aimed at inciting hatred." On June 7, his arrest was extended until June 29.
After the detention of the Imam, the advocate of Magomednabi Magomedov reported on signs of beating on his client's body. According to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", on April 20 and 21, the Imam's advocate was unable to meet his client.
At the session of the Soviet Court of Makhachkala held on June 28, the investigator requested to extend the pre-trial restriction measure, since "the grounds for detention in custody still exist." This was reported by Sirazhudin Datsiev, a member of the HRC "Memorial".
According to him, the advocate has requested the Court to release the suspect under house arrest, since he has minor children. The judge has finally pronounced the decision to extend the pre-trial restriction measure for another month, until July 28.
