In Stepanakert, folk costume festival gathers 130 participants

On August 4, Stepanakert held the festival of Armenian folk costume "Taraz". The central square of the city hosted a concert of folk groups from Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh and a show of Armenian national costumes. Pavilions were selling works created by Armenian folk art masters and students from creative centres. Besides, ancient Armenian carpets and exhibits from national museums of Armenia were exhibited.

"The festival involves 130 people. 9 out of 15 pavilions were occupied by participants from Armenia, and six from Nagorno-Karabakh," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Maria Baragamyan, Assistant Mayor of Yerevan.

The festival "Taraz" is a part of the annual programme "Yerevan Summer", and it is held for the second time already. In 2015, it was held in Yerevan.

According to Suren Tamrazyan, Mayor of Stepanakert, this is the fourth year when Stepanakert and Yerevan implement joint social programmes, and the festival "Taraz" marked the beginning of cooperation with the capital of Armenia also in the sphere of culture.
