Repeated voting to be held in Abkhazia's Gali district
The Abkhazian Central Election Commission (CEC) has declared valid results of the voting in the presidential election in all districts of Abkhazia, except for the Gali district. "Numerous violations of the voting procedure committed by precinct election commissions were registered. They influenced results of the voting," CEC Chairman Sergey Smyr said. In view of it the election in all the three constituencies of the Gali district are declared invalid.
According to the CEC, 76,654 people took part in the presidential election in Abkhazia, without taking the population of the Gali district into consideration. 35,092 people gave their votes to Sergey Bagapsh, 30,120 - to Raul Khadzhimba, 5,639 - to Sergey Shamba, 1,983 - to Anri Dzhergenia, and 470 - to Yakub Lakoba.
The repeated voting in the Gali district will take place on October 17, 2004.
