On twelfth day of Olympic Games, athletes from Caucasus win two medals

On August 17, natives of Northern and Southern Caucasus won two medals at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The both medals were won by athletes of the national team of Azerbaijan.

Taekwondo athlete Patimat Abakarova won the bronze medal in the weight category of up to 49 kg, and Maria Stadnik won the silver medal in wrestling in the weight category of up to 48 kg.

According to the results of the competitions of August 15, the Russian national team is ranked fourth in the overall team medal standings of the Olympic Games. Athletes of the Russian national team have won 41 medals, including 12 gold medals, 14 silver, and 15 bronze ones. The Azerbaijani national team has won three silver medals and four bronze medals. Athletes from Georgia have one gold medal, one silver medal, and three bronze medals. Athletes from the Armenian national team won one gold and three silver medals, reports the official website of the Olympic Games.
