Two journalists detained in Beslan
Today, Elena Kostyuchenko and Diana Khachatryan, journalists of the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta" and the edition "Takie Dela", respectively, have been detained in Beslan while they were highlighting the protest action of mothers who lost their children during the terror act in Beslan in 2004.
Let us remind you that today, the Beslan School No. 1 has started a watch in memory of hostages killed in the terror act.
On September 1, 2004, militants took 1128 people hostage in the Beslan School No. 1. The rescue operation was completed on September 3, 2004. The terror act killed 334 people, including 186 children. 810 people were injured.
After this morning, a school bell sounded on a school assembly at the Beslan School No. 1 and a mourning ceremony was started, five women who lost their relatives and friends in the terror act took off their sweaters and jackets. Under their sweaters, the women wore T-shirts with accusations against the President of Russia.
The protestors were approached by the policemen, who said that the women violated public order and were to go to the police station. However, the participants of the action began to scream, and the policemen were forced to retreat.
Diana Khachatryan and Elena Kostyuchenko was shooting all the above on video. They were asked by the policemen to stop shooting, and after their refusal, the men in civilian clothes tried to take away cameras from the journalists.
As a result, Elena Kostyuchenko and Diana Khachatryan together with the women on protest were brought to the Pravoberezhny ROVD (District Interior Division), report the messages posted on the website of the "Novaya Gazeta".
