Gannushkina calls election outcomes in Chechnya invalid

The local authorities had coordinated the outcomes of elections in Chechnya well in advance; and one should not believe the official announced figures, according to which the "Yabloko" Party won only 0.03% of votes, Svetlana Gannushkina, a human rights activist and a candidate for the Russian State Duma from the "Yabloko", told said the "Caucasian Knot".

According to the federal list, as of 9:00 a.m. Moscow time on Monday, September 19, in Chechnya, the "Edinaya Rossiya" won 96.15% of the votes.

According to Gannushkina, the elections looked very much like the previous ones; however, she did not know about any particular violations during the voting in Chechnya.

"Moreover, I am afraid to talk about it: people who need to search for violations in the republic, are at high risk," she said, adding that she is going to go to Chechnya, if it is necessary for lodging complaints to the local election commission.
