Deputy Imam Ravil Kaibaliev assassinated in Stavropol Territory

Ravil Kaibaliev, the Deputy Imam of the Neftekumsk District of the Stavropol Territory, has been killed today by unidentified persons on the Budyonnovsk-Kara-Tube highway, the "Caucasian Knot" was informed by the regional Muslim community.

According to local Muslims, the murder "was committed about 4:00 p.m., when Kaibaliev was on his way home."

"Around 4:00 p.m., he was returning from Budyonnovsk to the village of Kara-Tube. He was some 10 kilometres off Budyonnovsk. His Nissan car was found on the shoulder; Ravil, shot dead from a pistol, was lying nearby. We learned it around 6:00 p.m.," Rashid, a member of the community told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Another member of the community told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that Ravil Kaibaliev was Deputy Imam of the mosque of Kara-Tube. He has six children left. "The funeral of the cleric will take place at 9:00 a.m. on September 27," the member said.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in October 2015 policemen searched the house of Ravil Kaibaliev, the Deputy Imam of the village of Kara-Tube. Members of the local Muslim community associated the pressure on Kaibaliev with his human rights activities.
