29 amendments to Azerbaijani Constitution gain 83.25%-91.15% of votes

84.2% of all the voters have supported the increase of the president's term in office from five to seven years. The remaining 28 constitutional changes voted at the referendum have gained from 83.25% to 91.15% of the votes, the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan has stated today after processing all the ballots.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 26, Azerbaijan held the voting at the referendum on amendments to the Constitution.

Today, Mazakhir Panakhov, the head of the CEC, said that the Commission had processed the information from all the 5627 polling stations of the country.

According to the CEC, each of the proposed changes to the constitution was supported by 83.25%-91.15% of the votes.

The increase of the presidential term in office from five to seven years was supported by 84.2% of voters; the introduction of the institute of vice-presidents – by 84.5% of the voters; the vesting the president with the right to dissolve the parliament – by 87.9% of the voters, and the abolition of the age limit for the nominees for the post of the president – by 88% of the voters.

The voter turnout made 69.7%, the "Trend" quotes the CEC.
