"Dozhd" TV Channel clarifies circumstances of closure of Bilalov brothers' case

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has closed the criminal cases of abuse of power, which had been earlier filed against businessmen Magomed and Akhmed Bilalov. This was reported by the "Dozhd" (Rain) TV Channel with reference to its own sources.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Akhmed Bilalov, a native of Dagestan, was found responsible for the failure to meet deadlines during construction of an Olympic facility in Sochi and for the rise in its cost by several times. On April 10, 2013, he was involved as a defendant in the case of abuse of power. On April 12, it became known that another case for abuse of power was instituted against his brother Magomed Bilalov. It was reported that the Bilalov brothers left Russia in 2013.

The MIA has closed the criminal cases, involving Akhmed and Magomed Bilalov. This was reported in the evening of October 10 by the "Dozhd" TV Channel with reference to sources, familiar with the Bilalov brothers and close to the former top managers of the state corporation "Resorts of Northern Caucasus".

According to the sources, the cases are closed, since the Bilalov brothers have met the formal requirements necessary for the closure of the cases. "(They) gave no revealing interviews, sold their business, sat quietly abroad and did not blame the Russian government," reports one of the sources as quoted by the "Dozhd" TV Channel.
