"UNM" Party claims its four activists beaten in Georgia
Members of the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party were beaten by supporters of the "Georgian Dream" Party. This was reported by members of the "UNM" Party. According to them, a coordinator and a member of the election commission of the "UNM" Party were beaten in the district of Tetritskaro.
According to the coordinator of the "UNM" Party, the fight started after he was insulted by a coordinator of the "Georgian Dream" Party.
The second incident took place in the Georgian capital, in front of the office of Irakli Abuseridze, a majoritarian candidate of the "Georgian Dream" Party in the electoral district of Vazisubani.
"Two activists entered a supermarket near the office of the 'Georgian Dream' in Vazisubani, and they were attacked by about 30 members of the 'Georgian Dream' and beaten. One of the victims was brought to the RepublicanHospital in an unconscious state," stated Giorgi Oniani, a candidate of the "UNM" Party in the electoral district of Vazisubani, as quoted by the "Georgia Online" with reference to the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel.
In his turn, Irakli Kobakhidze, the executive secretary of the "Georgian Dream" Party, has claimed that activists of the "UNM" Party threw stones into the office of Irakli Abuseridze and staged a provocation.
"In both cases, criminal cases were instituted under Article 125 (beating) of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The investigation is underway," reported the spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia.
