Aivazyan, "Sasna Tsrer" supporter, back at large

Members of the Armenian community of Canada have posted bail for Saro Aivazyan, a defendant in the case of the capture of the building of the police patrol-and-post service (PPS) in Yerevan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 25, the Court of Appeal (CoA) of Armenia granted a defence's motion to release Aivazyan on bail of one million drams (about 2100 US dollars), but his relatives could not raise the necessary sum of money.

The "Sasna Tsrer" armed detachment, comprising supporters of the opposition "Constituent Parliament", kept the above police building captured from July 17. By July 30, the rebels released all their hostages; and on July 31, the detachment surrendered.

Aivazyan was detained by policemen in the street, because he made a telephone call to Arayik Khandoyan, a member of the "Sasna Tsrer", Felix Airapetyan, a member of the Board of Trustees of the "Sasna Tsrer" Charity Fund, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Today, Saro Aivazyan was released from custody after the above bail, raised by members of the Armenian Diaspora in Canada, was deposited, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
