Krasnodar resident sentenced to three years in jail for attempt to join IS
The North-Caucasian District Military Court has sentenced Feitulakh Nametulaev, a resident of Krasnodar, to three years in a general-security colony.
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the press service of the above court that Nametulaev was accused of preparing to join the "Islamic State" (IS) (earlier – the ISIL, recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia by the court, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") in the territory of Syria.
According to investigators, in autumn of 2014, Nametulaev became a devotee of the religious ideology of radical Islam and decided to go to Syria with the aim to join the IS. In 2015, he made three attempts to get to Syria: at first, was stopped by his relatives; at the second attempt he arrived in Turkey, but was deported to Russia; and during his third attempt, he was detained.
