Rights defenders urge Kadyrov to react to threat to Djalaldinov

Ramzan Kadyrov and Russian authorities must respond to Ramazan Djalaldinov's statements about the threats received by him from Chechen power agents, said the participants of the press-conference held in Moscow. Elena Milashina expressed her confidence that Djalaldinov is persecuted because of fear before Kadyrov; while Djalaldinov, a resident of the village of Kenkhi told how he decided to record a video appeal to President Putin.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the press conference was held in the office of the "Novaya Gazeta".

The journalist Elena Milashina said that the aim of the event was to spread information about Djalaldinov, illegal actions of Chechen authorities and power agents, as well as to attract Ramzan Kadyrov's attention to the incident.

According to Milashina, another resident of Kenkhi was prosecuted for his attempt to get the compensation payments; he was convicted for alleged drug possession.

Pyotr Zaikin, a new Djalaldinov's advocate, said that his client had been beaten up, when he was received by a high-ranking law senior enforcer. Also, according to the advocate, an official from the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) told Djalaldinov's wife that he would kill her husband.

Djalaldinov himself said that he had decided to record a video clip with an appeal to Putin after he saw a report about Aishat Inaeva. He added that he would continue making public information about corruption in Chechnya, and did not rule out that his relatives, who live in the republic, may be under pressure.
