Tatiana Lebedeva intends to appeal against charge of doping

Tatiana Lebedeva, a field-and-track athlete, who is now a senator from the Volgograd Region, will go to court to challenge the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to deprive her of her two silver medals won at the 2008 Olympic Games.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 25, the IOC announced the detection of a banned substance of turinabol in re-analysis of a doping test submitted by Tatiana Lebedeva for the Beijing Olympic Games.

After the completion of her sports career, Tatiana Lebedeva became a politician. In 2009, she was elected to the Volgograd Regional Duma.

Tatiana Lebedeva denies the allegations voiced by the IOC, the "Sport-Express" reports. According to the former athlete, sports officials revised her several doping tests submitted "during the past ten years, including tests of 2007 and 2009, and everything was normal."

Vyacheslav Dogonkin, a former coach of Tatiana Lebedeva, believes that the former athlete "fell victim to a political game."
