Man wounded in Shali still stays in grave condition, his relatives report

Khasan Mezhidov, a resident of Shali, wounded in the course of the night shootout of January 30, still stays at hospital. He underwent surgery. After that, his condition is serious, but stable, report family members of the man. According to them, Khasan Mezhidov needs long-term medical treatment.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that last night two policemen were killed in the Chechen town of Shali. After the attack, a counterterrorist operation (CTO) was conducted, as a result of which three alleged attackers were killed; and the police have also confirmed that two civilians were wounded.

"Khasan Mezhidov was returning home, when a shootout between policemen and militants occurred. Several bullets got into his car. He got his bones of his pelvis broken, and he also got through gunshot wounds to the lower part of his body. He underwent complicated surgery, and doctors say that his condition is serious, but stable. There is no direct threat to his life. However, he needs long-term medical treatment, which can take months," one of the Khasan Mezhidov's relatives told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the family members of the wounded man, people affected by the shootout have not received any compensation from the authorities.

"No compensation has been paid, at least until present," said the Khasan Mezhidov's relative.
