Relatives of detained Makhma Muskiev evicted from Tsotsi-Yurt, residents of Chechnya report

Family members of Makhma Muskiev, detained during a special operation carried out by Chechen law enforcers, do not longer live in the village of Tsotsi-Yurt. This was reported by local residents. According to them, law enforcers forced the Muskiev family members to leave the village, although villagers were against that.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Makhma Muskiev was one of the suspects detained during the January major special operation carried out in the village of Tsotsi-Yurt of the Kurchaloi District and in neighbouring villages. On January 11, during an armed clash in Tsotsi-Yurt, six people were killed, including two law enforcers.

On January 12, a meeting was held in the village of Tsotsi-Yurt, during which local people demanded to evict from the village the family members of Makhma Muskiev. The suspect is a relative of field commander Isa Muskiev, killed in 2006. At the gathering held on January 13, relatives of the detainees publicly repented for the actions of the young people. Finally, it was decided not to evict the suspect's family members from the village.

On January 22, a bit more than in a week after the village gathering, the Muskiev family members left the village. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by the local residents.

"Law enforcers and local top-ranking officials initially supported the idea to evict the Muskiev family members from the village and even from the republic. However, the gathering of the villagers did not support the decision, and the officials were clearly dissatisfied with the villagers' decision. Then, Ramzan Kadyrov also expressed his disagreement with the decision, since earlier, he accused the Muskiev family members of massacre of residents of Tsotsi-Yurt in the early 2000s. They were forced to leave the village," said one of the residents of Tsotsi-Yurt, who preferred to remain anonymous.
