Oksana Sevastidi is back at large

Oksana Sevastidi, a resident of Sochi, who had been convicted for sending an SMS-message to Georgia about the transportation of military equipment, has been released from the Moscow SIZO (pre-trial prison) “Lefortovo”.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on March 7 the Russian President signed a decree on pardoning Ms Sevastidi. Her defence insists on her complete innocence and decided to seek for a revision of her verdict.

On March 3, 2016, Oksana Sevastidi was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment for sending an SMS-message to her acquaintance in Georgia about transportation of military equipment to Abkhazia.

After her liberation, Sevastidi did not contact journalists. Her only response was the answer to the question about her health: "I feel good," the RIA “Novosti” quotes her as saying.

Let us remind you that in February the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" recognized Sevastidi as a political prisoner.
