Khasavyurt introduces CTO legal regime for second time since beginning of 2017

The counterterrorist operation (CTO) legal regime, introduced in Dagestan a week after an attack on policemen near the village of Endirei, has become the second counterterrorist operation in Khasavyurt and the surrounding area since the beginning of the year.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, the CTO legal regime has been introduced in Khasavyurt, the Khasavyurt District, and within some territories in the Kazbek and Kizilyurt Districts.

On March 11, a police squad was attacked out near the village of Endirei in the Khasavyurt District. The attackers fled, a policeman was hospitalized. According to the preliminary information, the attack involved three persons. However, no CTO legal regime was introduced in the area.

"The CTO legal regime is introduced in case if militants are involved in crimes," explained then a source from the law enforcement bodies.

On January 21, in the village of Vperyod of the Kizlyar District, law enforcers cordoned off a house, and two suspected militants were killed during the assault. Sources from the law enforcement bodies called the killed suspects the members of the "Khasavyurt" grouping. One of the suspects was identified as 29-year-old Rashid Asulbekov.
