Four figurants arrested in case of killing policemen in Astrakhan

Four persons have been taken into custody on suspicion of involvement in an attack on policemen in Astrakhan. According to an advocate, the number of the arrested persons includes acquaintances of the killed suspected participants of the attack and a wife of one of them.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 4, two inspectors of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS) were killed in Astrakhan, and on April 6, three fighters of the National Guard of Russia were wounded. According to investigators, the attack involved an armed grouping of four persons, natives of the Astrakhan Region, Chechnya, and Dagestan. One of the suspects was killed during the second attack, and three others were killed later, during a special operation.

Four persons have been arrested in the case of the killing of the policemen committed in Astrakhan on April 4. This was reported in the evening of April 14 by Murad Velikhanov, an advocate of one of the arrested persons.

According to the advocate, all four arrested persons are suspected of complicity in encroachment upon the lives of law enforcers, that is, they are involved in the main case of the policemen's killing.

"They were arrested not on the basis of their proven involvement, but simply as the persons who contacted along religious issues the men who attacked the policemen. They met recently while they were visiting a mosque," reported Murad Velikhanov as quoted by the "TASS".

According to the advocate, the number of the arrested persons includes a wife of the suspected participant of the attack on the policemen, as well as the acquaintances of the killed suspects.

The arrested persons deny any involvement in the attack on the policemen.
