Krasnodar picketers oppose cruel treatment of animals

On the International Circus Day, Krasnodar animal defenders urged townspeople not to attend the circus shows, where animals are involved; and demanded from the authorities to stop shooting stray dogs, but use sterilization instead.

The picket in defence of animals was held today in the Chistiakov Grove of Krasnodar within the framework of the Third International and All-Russian Campaign "For Circus without Animals". About 20 people took part in the two-hour-long action.

"Within the campaign held on April 15, the International Circus Day throughout Russia and elsewhere in the world, we represent the interests of the animals tortured in circuses. For example, elephants are trained by poking needles into their legs and by piercing their ears.
