In Northern Caucasus, attack in Ingushetia becomes 16th attempt on law enforcers for six months
During the past six months, at least 16 attacks on law enforcement officers have been committed in the regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD). Meanwhile, according to the "Caucasian Knot", from May to November 2016, at least 17 similar incidents occurred in Northern Caucasus.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that tonight, a checkpoint of the road-and-patrol service (known as DPS) was attacked in Malgobek. A policeman was wounded, and two attackers were killed, including Magomed Bekbuzarov, who was put on the wanted list for involvement in an attack on a police patrol car in Malgobek on April 8, the law enforcement agencies report.
According to the "Caucasian Knot", only in Ingushetia, during the past six months, at least three attacks on law enforcers have been registered, all of them in Malgobek.
On April 8, in Malgobek, two DPS inspectors, who were travelling in a police patrol car, were shelled. The police car caught fire, and the wounded policemen died in the hospital. Khasan Khatsiev, Bekhan Soltukiev, Mikail Cherbizhev, and Magomed Bekbuzarov were put on the wanted list on suspicion of involvement in the attack.
At night of March 17, the building of the Malgobek Division of the FSB Department for Ingushetia was shelled from a grenade launcher. No one was injured as a result of the incident. A shot from a grenade launcher caused minor damage to the building, the FSB reports.
On January 27 in Malgobek, policemen tried to stop a car to check a driver's documents. However, the driver ignored their demand. During the chase, the patrol car was shelled. The policemen were not injured, and the attackers threw their car and fled. Without delay, law enforcers identified a 28-year-old resident of Malgobek suspected of involvement in the incident.
