In Bryansk, Murad Amriev identifies Chechen law enforcer who tortured him

At the building of the Transport Prosecutor's Office of Bryansk, Murad Amriev has identified a law enforcer from Chechnya as a person who tortured him in 2013. Law enforcers made the right decision when they released Murad Amriev, emphasizes human rights defender Igor Kalyapin.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 4, in the Bryansk Region, Murad Amriev was detained on the charge of using a forged document when he was travelling to Moscow. Today, the police released Murad Amriev. After that, he escaped from Chechen law enforcers who arrived in Bryansk and cordoned off the building where the athlete stayed.

According to Igor Kalyapin, the leader of the Committee for the Prevention of Torture, the claims about the Murad Amriev's use of a forged document are unfounded.

"Murad Amriev was suspected of the fact that he used a passport with the year of birth indicated as 1986 instead of 1985," stated Igor Kalyapin. He has explained that the error was a "technical one."

The human rights defender has added that Murad Amriev did not violate the law. "The media began to write that Murad Amriev fled from custody, but that was not the case. The term of his detention is over, he was officially released and he left," said Igor Kalyapin.

According to him, "the blood feud was declared by a top-ranking Chechen law enforcer in connection with an assassination attempt on him committed 10-15 years ago." "The law enforcer blames Zurab, an elder brother of Murad Amriev, of organizing the assassination attempt on him. The Murad Amriev's brother lives for a long time in Germany, where he was granted political asylum," stated Igor Kalyapin.
