Whereabouts of men wounded in shootout in Ingushetia remains unknown

Officials from the Investigating Department for Ingushetia of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) have stated that they are not aware of an investigation into an assassination attempt on two relatives of suspected militant Magomed Bekbuzarov. The condition and whereabouts of the wounded men are also unknown. Local residents do not rule out that the motive of the assassination attempt may be in revenge from law enforcers or relatives of policemen.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 21, a brother of Magomed Bekbuzarov, killed in an attack on a checkpoint of the road-and-patrols service (known as DPS) in Malgobek, was attacked at a vehicle service station.

At night of May 12, a DPS in Malgobek was attacked. One policeman was wounded, and two attackers were killed. One of the killed attackers was identified as Magomed Bekbuzarov, who was wanted for an attack on a police patrol car.

Magomed Mutsolgov, the leader of the human rights organization "Mashr", has reported that he is not aware of the official versions of the incident and the fate of the wounded men.

Publicist Akhmad Buro has noted that law enforcers may provoke relatives to lynch under the guise of blood revenge, despite the fact that the authorities of Ingushetia do not approve such methods.

According to another local human rights defender, many residents of Ingushetia believe that law enforcement could act under the guise of relatives' revenge
