Directress of "Zvezda Elbrusa" Hotel goes on hunger strike

Zhanna Mazikhova, Director General of the hotel located in the Mount Elbrus area, has gone on a hunger strike in protest against a raider capture of the property of the Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) "Zvezda Elbrusa" and a section of the National Park.

According to her story, she went on a hunger strike at 8:00 a.m. Moscow time on June 26. She does it at home in the presence of witnesses.

During the first three days, "it will be an ordinary hunger strike," Ms Mazikhova has stated. Should her demands be ignored, she will "start an eight-day-long dry hunger strike."

Zhanna Mazikhova asserts that with the connivance of local officials she "was deprived, by raiding, of a tourist hotel site and the adjoining area of the National Park of 2.8 hectares." The land plot was granted to the CJSC "Zvezda Elbrusa" into trust management for 49 years, she claims.
