Georgian establishment treats Mike Pence's visit as a new level of relations with US

During a press conference following a meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Mike Pence has stated that Georgia is a strategic partner of the United States. According to Mike Pence, US President Donald Trump sent him to Georgia with a message: "We support you; we stand next to you, next to the Georgian people."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that US Vice President Mike Pence arrived in Georgia on July 31. During his visit on July 31-August 1, he met Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili and Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.

Mike Pence has confirmed that the United States continues to support the territorial integrity of Georgia and "will continue to search for new ways" to strengthen its defence potential.

Georgian politicians treated the statements of the US Vice President as a new round in the Georgian-US relations and a new higher level of strategic partnership between the two countries.

"The messages made on the territorial integrity of our country, integration into NATO, de-occupation and support of Georgia by the US indicate that our relations with the US are moving to a new higher level," said David Zalkaliani, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Georgia, on the air of the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel.
