South Ossetia to close border with Georgia for three days

The border with Georgia will be closed for the period from the evening on August 6 till the morning on August 9. The measure was introduced in connection with "holding memorial events timed to the ninth anniversary of the Georgian aggression." This has been reported today on the Facebook page of the State Security Committee (SSC) for South Ossetia.

Let us remind you that on August 8, 2008, hostilities began between Georgia and South Ossetia, and after that the Russian President signed decrees on recognizing the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia and the Georgian Parliament voted for the break of diplomatic relations with Russia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that the Georgian-South-Ossetian border was closed for the period from May 26-28 in connection with the holding of graduation parties. Earlier, local residents have reported that the closure of the border creates inconvenience for entrepreneurs, students, doctors, as well as patients who seek help in medical institutions of Georgia.
