Law enforcer killed in shootout in Khasavyurt outskirt

Today, during a special operation in the village of Balyut in the Khasavyurt District, law enforcers have encountered a group of suspected militants from the Khasavyurt grouping. A shootout occurred, during which a law enforcer was killed. Another law enforcer was wounded.

"When offered to lay down their arms and surrender to the authorities, the criminals opened desultory fire, as a result of which two law enforcers were wounded, including one fatally wounded one," reports the message posted on the website of the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC).

According to the preliminary information, the people cordoned off in a private house were members of the Khasavyurt militant grouping "and were involved in a number of crimes of terrorist nature," the NAC reported.
