Protesting miners detained in Gukovo

Today, at 11:00 a.m., in Gukovo, miners started their picket in the square near the building of the Palace of Culture with a demand to have their wages debts paid. The picket was sanctioned by the city authorities and was about 60 persons strong.

Since the spring of 2016, "Kingcoal" miners have been regularly protesting in Gukovo and Rostov-on-Don, demanding repayment of their salary debts and issuance of ration coal.

The mass picket ended quickly, after which two persons began their solo pickets. One of them stood at the administration building and held a poster with an appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The second solo picketer stood at the prosecutor's office and held a poster with an appeal to the prosecutor's office.

Five police cars remained parked not far from the picketers. Several policemen approached the picketer, who stood near the prosecutor's office and had a clash with a guard. The policemen drew up a protocol, but the picketer refused to sign it. Then, an UAZ van drove up to them; and the picketer was pushed into it.

The second picketer was also pushed into the van, which then drove to some unknown place.

Then, in the square, Tatiana Avachova, the organizer and coordinator of Gukovo miners’ protests was detained.

The police failed to explain the reason for the arrest of the picketers and the organizer to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
