Krasnodar zoo-defenders launch All-Russian action "Law Is Needed Now"

On September 15, about 50 people came to a picket in Krasnodar demanding a prompt adoption of the law on responsible attitude to animals. The campaign in Krasnodar was the first in the all-Russian campaign, the activists said.

"We demand a quick adoption of the law on responsible attitude to animals. Krasnodar is the first city that holds the All-Russian action of zoo-defenders. On September 16 and 17, similar actions will be held by residents of more than a 100 Russian cities," Inna Gonchar told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "People are out in the streets to make it as clear for the government that it’s necessary to adopt at least a minimum legislative framework for protecting animals against mentally insolvent people."

According to her story, at present, Russia has not a single law on animals.

"We are tired of receiving daily news about setting dogs on fire, kittens' pinned out eyes, explosive in the bear's mouth, and of realizing that all these slaughterers go unpunished," the girl said.

The Krasnodar picketers were people of different ages and professions; many came in whole families and brought their pets; they gathered food, medicines and raised money to help animals kept in shelters.

Religious clothes are not widespread in the country, this issue is not relevant, therefore the bills to ban them will not be adopted, lawyers believe.
