Zelimkhan Bakaev fails getting in touch with his friends after video message (+video)

Friends of Chechen singer Zelimkhan Bakaev have told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that they did not succeed in contacting the singer within a day after the appearance of the video in which he reported his stay in Germany.

Zelimkhan Bakaev, a 26-year-old native of Grozny, disappeared on August 8. Singer's friends suggested that he could be kidnapped, while others associated his disappearance to a conflict in his family.

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed that on September 24, a video appeared on the Internet, in which Zelimkhan Bakaev admitted staying in Germany and invited his friend from Holland to come to his place. Friend and rights defenders questioned by the "Caucasian Knot" noted that the video was poorly directed and staged.

On September 25, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a Moscow journalist who personally knew the singer that a day after the publication of the video, Zelimkhan Bakaev made no attempt to contact his friends.

"He did not contact me. We have a common friend, and the singer also did not get in touch with him. There is no news, except the staged video ... It is possible that a certain scenario is being played out, and I very much hope that he will be set free," the journalist said.

Zelimkhan Bakaev did not get in touch after the appearance of the video on the Internet, reported his manager Leyla Vakhaeva.

"He did not contact anyone. I did not try to contact him after the video, but the messages sent through WhatsApp still do not reach him," Leyla Vakhaeva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
