Grozny residents complain about being obliged to attend a football match

On September 25, in Grozny, students attended a match between football players from the "Akhmat" and "Rubin" FCs. Some of the students claimed being obliged to attend the football match.

In the evening on September 25, the match within the 11th round of the Russian Football Championship between the football players from the "Akhmat" and "Rubin" FCs was held at the Bilimkhanov Stadium in Grozny with full stands, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The bulk of the fans at the match were students from universities and technical schools of the Chechen capital. Some students claimed they had to attend the match under the threat of dismissal.

"We had been warned that by 7:00 p.m. we were to come to the Bilimkhanov Stadium. Meanwhile, the warning concerned both the students who lived in Grozny and those who came to study from other districts and villages. Those who would not come were threatened to be not allowed to take exams or even to be dismissed. Of course, I had to go, although I am not a fan of football, like some of my friends and acquaintances," said Shamil, a student from the Grozny Oil University.

"Until the match was over, no one was allowed to leave the territory of the sports complex. I had to spend about four hours there and then to take a taxi to get home," reported Islam, another student.
