Polish Prosecutor's Office accuses Chechen native of delivering arms to "Imarat Kavkaz"

A Russian citizen detained on the Ukrainian-Polish border has been accused of smuggling weapons and ammunition for North-Caucasian militants.

The man was detained while he tried to cross the border of Ukraine and Poland in 2012. Later, he was arrested. In his car with Lithuanian state registration numbers, Polish border guards found two sniper rifles, 340 rounds, and 979 service detonators.

According to the Polish Prosecutor's Office, a native of Chechnya, who was granted refugee status in Austria, kept contact with members of the terrorist organization "Imarat Kavkaz" banned in the European Union and Russia.

Investigators suggest that the man was transporting weapons to militants in the Caucasus. In 2012, he failed to cross the border of Ukraine and Russia. He was returning with arms and ammunition to Austria, but was detained in Poland, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
