Arrested Azerbaijani oppositionist sent to psychiatric hospital

Fizuli Guseinov, an activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), is serving his administrative arrest. On October 13, he was sent to a psychiatric hospital. According to an advocate, starting from October 6, Fizuli Guseinov was on a dry hunger strike.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after on October 7, more than 1000 people went to an anti-corruption rally in Baku, six PFPA members responsible for organizing the rally were subjected to administrative arrests. Fizuli Guseinov was sentenced to 30 days of arrest.

In the afternoon on October 13, Fizuli Guseinov was taken from the Binagadi temporary detention centre, reported advocate Asabali Mustafaev.

Fizuli Guseinov called his relatives in the afternoon on October 13. He informed them he had been brought to a psychiatric hospital. "They did not succeed in forcing him to stop his hunger strike. On October 13, warders of the detention centre called Fizuli Guseinov's family members and informed them that Fizuli was foaming from his mouth. The warders asked his relatives to persuade him to start eating. I do not exclude that the police have decided to remove the responsibility for everything what can happen to him. Or the psychiatric hospital warders got the experience of forced feeding," Asabali Mustafaev suggested.
