In Stepanakert, students held a march in memory of philanthropist Levon Airapetyan. Today, a mourning rally is planned to be held in the village of Vank, where Levon Airapetyan was born, and the Gandzasar Monastery will hold a memorial service in his memory, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports. In Nagorno-Karabakh, Levon Airapetyan implemented many charitable projects, but several of them were suspended after his arrest.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Levon Airapetyan died in Mordovia in a penal colony on October 18.

Participants of the mourning march held a subbotnik in Love Park, built with the support of Levon Airapetyan, where in 2008, the "Great Artsakh Wedding" was held.

"The death of great benefactor Levon Airapetyan is a great loss for all Armenians," said Araik Arutyunyan, State Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh.

"Levon Airapetyan stood at the roots to form the Republic of Artsakh, and he did everything possible to improve the Motherland and contribute to its prosperity," emphasized the press service for the Nagorno-Karabakh presidential administration.

In 2012, Levon Airapetyan allocated funds for the construction of a military school in the village of Vank in the Martakert District. However, according to the Nagorno-Karabakh Ministry for Urban Development, the construction has been suspended.

The programme of payments from the Levon Airapetyan Foundation for the birth of children in the families participating in the "Great Artsakh Wedding" was suspended starting from January 1, 2014, added an official from the Nagorno-Karabakh Ministry for Social Security.
