Abkhazia announces conditions for recognition of Catalonia's independence

Abkhazia is ready to consider the issue on recognition of the Catalonia's independence in case it receives an appropriate address and sees that Catalonia needs that. This has been announced by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Abkhazia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 1, a referendum was held in Catalonia, and more than 90% of its participants supported the idea of the Catalonia's independence.

Abkhazian politicians have commented on the possibility of recognizing Catalonia as an independent state soon after the news about the adoption by the Catalan Parliament of a resolution on independence. According to Kan Taniya, Abkhazian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, it is too early to state anything on the matter.

"We are ready to consider the issue on recognition of Catalonia as an independent state. However, at present, it is too early to talk about that... There are still a number of normative legal acts to be adopted by the Catalan government to register for themselves their status as an independent state. Thereafter, if they address us with a request to recognize the Catalonia's independence, then, of course, we are ready to consider the issue," stated Kan Taniya as quoted by the "Sputnik-Abkhazia".
