Nagorno-Karabakh supports demands for Catalonia's independence

Residents of Catalonia have the right to independently determine the political status of the region, reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) for Nagorno-Karabakh.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 27, the Catalonian Parliament pronounced the creation of an independent republic.

Abkhazia has announced it was ready to consider the issue on recognition of the Catalonia's independence. South Ossetia is also willing to recognize Catalonia as an independent state.

Like the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Nagorno-Karabakh MFA mentioned the origin of the Karabakh conflict.

"It was the Azerbaijan's refusal to recognize the right of the people of Artsakh (the self-name of Nagorno-Karabakh, note of the 'Caucasian Knot') to self-determination... which transferred the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict to the military plane," noted the Nagorno-Karabakh MFA.

It should be noted that after the referendum in Catalonia, residents of Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, and Nagorno-Karabakh have expressed doubts that those events will affect the legal status of their republics.
