Law enforcers explain attack in Roshni-Chu by influence of militant recruiters

One of the men suspected in an attack on policemen in Chechnya arrived in the republic from Barnaul after he had changed his name and surname. Meanwhile, both of the killed assailants were not members of the armed underground, law enforcers believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 19, a police checkpoint near the village of Roshni-Chu was attacked. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), one of the attackers threw a hand grenade to the policemen, while the second assailant opened fire from a pistol. Both attackers were killed and later identified as Akhmed Chakhkiev, a resident of Ingushetia, and Adam Tsutsaev, a resident of the Altai Territory.

"At present, law enforcers are involved in identifying contacts of Adam Tsutsaev and Akhmed Chakhkiev, a circle of their communication, interests, and so on," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by an official from the Chechen law enforcement agencies. And he continued: "That should help find out the motives for their actions. Till present, there is no evidence that the liquidated criminals had been associated with members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) in Northern Caucasus. It is possible that they were recruited by terrorists through social networks."

Law enforcers have found out that Adam Tsutsaev changed his surname several years ago. "Adam Tsutsaev was actually Andrei Borisov, a native of the Altai Territory. His father was an ethnic Chechen, and several years ago, Andrei Borisov changed his name and surname to become Adam Tsutsaev. The man lived in Barnaul, and he run his own business. Meanwhile, in recent years, he ... became a follower radical concept in Islam," reported a law enforcer.
